It’s easy to learn how to program a Chevy key fob. Simply hold the new key fob in your hand, make your way over to your new Chevy model, and follow these steps, whether you’re at home in Bloomington or working in Decatur:

1. Manually unlock your car door using the lock on the driver’s side exterior, rather than using the button on your key fob.
2. Step inside your vehicle, ensuring all doors are securely shut.
3. Press and hold the unlock button on the driver’s door while simultaneously inserting your key into the ignition. Turn the key to the “On” position, but do not turn the car on all the way. Your interior lights and radio will turn on, but do not start the engine.
4. Continuing to hold down the unlock button on your door, turn your key back to the “Off” position, then turn it to “On” and right back to “Off” once more in quick succession. (On – Off – On – Off)
5. Release the unlock button.
6. Upon releasing the unlock button on your door, you’ll hear the door locks engage and disengage, signaling that the programming sequence can begin.
7. On the Chevy key fob, press and hold the “Unlock” and “Lock” buttons simultaneously until you hear the door locks engage and disengage again. This indicates that you have successfully programmed the Chevy key fob.
8. Re-insert the programmed key back into the ignition to the “On” position, ending the programming sequence.
