Getting more done and having more fun both become a whole lot easier with the 2020 Chevy Traverse towing capacity at your disposal. You’ll be able to pull 1,500 pounds with the base model, or upgrade with AWD and one of the higher-end trims to pull up to 5,000.
Of course, even if you don’t hook up a trailer, you’ll find that the Traverse is well-equipped for daily errands and tough jobs alike. Take a closer look at what it can do for your Normal-area drives below!

2020 Chevrolet Traverse Towing Specs

All seven of the 2020 Traverse trim levels come equipped with a 3.6-liter V6 engine, and can be paired with either front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive. That means that each configuration offers 310 hp and 266 lb-ft of torque–more than enough to get a fully-loaded trailer moving forward. Here’s where the configurations differ:

  • If you opt for the L, LS, LT Cloth, LT Leather, or RS trim levels, you’ll tow up to 1,500 pounds with either front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive.
  • The Chevy Traverse Premier tows up to 1,500 pounds with FWD, but it can reach the 5,000-pound maximum with AWD.
  • The Chevy Traverse High Country configuration can always tow up to 5,000 pounds, no matter which drivetrain you select.

Chevy Traverse Payload Rating and Cargo Space

Don’t have a trailer on hand? The Chevy Traverse has a maximum payload capacity of 1,798 pounds, and that means you can travel easily through the roads near Decatur and Springfield, even with heavy equipment in your cargo bay. You’ll still need to fit it into your interior, but that shouldn’t be hard:

Chevy Traverse Cargo Volume

  • 23.0 cubic feet behind the third row
  • 57.8 cubic feet behind the second row
  • 98.2 cubic feet behind the first row

Smart Storage Solutions

Looking to get even more use out of your Traverse interior? These smart Chevrolet features can help you out:

  • Hands-Free Liftgate: You can open your Traverse liftgate simply by waving your foot under a sensor beneath your vehicle, even if your hands are full. This feature is standard on the Premier trim and up.
  • Hidden Storage: Underfloor storage compartments provide plenty of room for precious belongings that need to be shielded from the sun or kept out of view.
